Margarita (Ita) Aleksievska Sclavi, aka “House of Ita”, is a Rome-based multimedia textile artist of North Macedonian origins. She handcrafts hand-painted tapestries and home textiles in limited editions, alongside collectible items of furniture. What distinguishes her work is the measured contamination of traditional and contemporary elements, in a game of union and contrasts. Ita breathes life into a delicately mysterious iconography, infused with a sense of unreality and surprise. The result is an encounter between East and West — a visual poem, a narration and reflection of her imaginary world.
